📜 Server Logging Guide

Bozos Audit and Discord's Audit Log are useful for different reasons

Discord already has an Audit Log, so why use Bozos Audit? The answer is visibility: Discord's log is an administrative history, while Bozos Audit can route selected events into staff channels where the team already works.

What Discord's Audit Log is for

Discord's built-in Audit Log records many administrative actions such as role changes, channel changes, bans and other server-management operations. It is accessed through Server Settings and is controlled by Discord. It is the authoritative place to inspect many administrative actions.

What Bozos Audit adds

Bozos Audit is a server-configured event logging system. It can send selected categories of moderation, member, message, voice and server-change events into Discord destinations chosen by the server. That makes important activity visible to staff without requiring everyone to repeatedly open Server Settings.

The five useful categories

  • Moderation for punishment-related activity.
  • Members for member lifecycle events.
  • Messages for relevant message events.
  • Voice for voice-channel activity events.
  • Server for structural changes such as channels or roles.

Why separate destinations help

A busy server may generate enough events that one giant logging channel becomes difficult to read. Separate destinations let moderators keep moderation information away from lower-priority infrastructure events, while still preserving a useful operational trail inside Discord.

What Bozos Audit is not

It is not a replacement for Discord's own Audit Log, and it should not be treated as a permanent forensic database outside your server. Bozos Audit posts configured events directly into your Discord server. For actions where Discord's authoritative audit data matters, staff should still inspect Discord's Audit Log.

A practical setup

Give staff-only channels clear names, keep access limited to people who need the information, and route only the event categories your team will actually review. A smaller useful log is better than thousands of ignored messages.
