What is a role connection?
One connection pairs one role in each of two different servers. Create additional connections for additional role pairs. The same Discord account must already be a member of the destination server for a role to be applied there; RoleSync does not invite or transfer members.
Set up your first connection
- Invite Bozos RoleSync into both participating Discord servers using Bozos Control Center.
- Enable Server Members Intent for the bot and give it Manage Roles permission. Its highest role must sit above both roles to be managed.
- Sign into the dashboard with a Discord account that owns or has Administrator access to both servers for cross-server setup.
- Open RoleSync Studio, select the two servers and an assignable role on each, and choose the synchronization direction.
- Choose your removal options, save, and test by assigning a role to a member who belongs to both servers.
One-way versus two-way
Changes to the mapped role in Server A update its counterpart in Server B. Role changes made in B do not flow back to A.
A role change in either server updates the matching role in the other, when the member and permissions allow it.
Removals and member joins
Granting a mapped role can grant its counterpart automatically. Sync role removals is configurable; when off, normal role synchronization is grant-only. Remove linked role on source-server leave is off by default and should be enabled only when continued membership in the source server is required. When somebody joins a connected destination server, RoleSync can grant matching roles they already hold elsewhere; simply joining does not revoke roles.
Disconnecting a connection leaves roles already granted in place. New connections do not retroactively copy every existing member's role; later role changes and member joins trigger synchronization. Settings can take roughly a minute to refresh.
Permissions and safety
The bot needs Manage Roles and the Discord Server Members Intent. It does not need Administrator, View Channels, Message Content Intent, or access to ordinary messages. Discord role hierarchy and role manageability rules always apply; RoleSync does not manage administrator or managed roles.
Free and Premium
Free: 3 active connections, including one-way/two-way and removal settings. Premium: unlimited active connections, subject to Discord rate limits and fair use. When Premium expires or is revoked, the oldest three saved enabled connections continue; additional saved connections are paused, not deleted, and resume if Premium returns.
Check your server plan with /premium status or compare pricing on the Premium page. A plan applies to the server that owns the connection, not automatically to every connected server.
Commands
/help provides bot information; /setup opens RoleSync Studio; /sync status shows active connections for the server; and /premium status shows the server plan. Role mapping is managed on the website, not through a Discord setup wizard.
