🎂 Community System Guide

Set up birthday wishes without broken channels, missing roles or unnecessary data

A reliable birthday system only needs a few pieces: the feature enabled for the server, a valid destination channel, an optional ping role configuration, and birthdays entered by members who want the feature.

Birthday is disabled until you configure it

Bozos Forever does not need every server to use birthdays. Treat it as an optional system. Enable it only after choosing where birthday messages should go and which role, if any, should be involved in the celebration flow.

Choose a stable birthday channel

Use a channel that is unlikely to be deleted during routine server cleanup. Renaming a configured channel is fine because its Discord ID stays the same. Deleting and recreating it creates a new ID, so the dashboard configuration must then be updated.

Check the role before relying on a ping

If your setup uses a birthday role, make sure the role still exists and that the bot can interact with it as required by your configuration. Discord role hierarchy matters when a bot needs to manage roles.

Members control whether they participate

Birthday data is only relevant when a member chooses to use the system. Bozos stores the day and month needed for the feature; a birth year is not required for normal birthday wishes.

Test the normal workflow

After configuring the channel and role, use the ordinary birthday commands to save and view a test birthday for a trusted account. Confirm that the bot can access the configured channel and that the saved details appear correctly.

If wishes stop working later

  1. Confirm Birthday System is still enabled.
  2. Confirm the configured channel still exists.
  3. Confirm the configured role still exists.
  4. Check the bot's channel and role permissions.
  5. If either object was recreated, save the new configuration.

Do not overcomplicate the setup

Birthday automation should be predictable. Keep the destination obvious to members and moderators, avoid frequently replacing the configured channel, and only use roles that serve a clear purpose.
