AFK that behaves naturally in active chat

Members can mark themselves away with a reason. Bozos tells people when they mention an AFK member and clears the status when that member returns to chat.

Set, check or remove AFK

Use /afk set with an optional reason. A short reason such as “studying”, “eating” or “back later” gives other members useful context without requiring a separate status message. /afk status checks your current state and /afk off removes it manually.

Automatic welcome back

If an AFK member sends a normal server message, Bozos treats that as a return to chat, removes the saved AFK record automatically and welcomes the member back. This means most users do not need to remember to run /afk off every time.

Mention notices

When someone mentions an AFK member, Bozos can reply with the member's saved reason and how long they have been away. This helps active chats understand why someone is not responding instead of repeatedly pinging them.

AFK is a convenience status, not a moderation restriction. Setting AFK does not prevent the member from sending messages or using Discord normally.

Viewing active AFK members

/afklist provides a quick overview of members who currently have AFK records. It is useful for communities where several people may be away during long events, study sessions or gaming nights.

Administrator cleanup

/afkclear removes one member's AFK status and /afkclearall clears all current AFK statuses for the server. These tools are useful when a stale record needs to be removed or when staff intentionally want to reset the feature.

How AFK behaves between servers

Bozos Forever is configured per Discord server, so AFK behavior is tied to the community where the feature is enabled. A member's activity in one server does not make every other Bozos server share the same server-level AFK state.

Good AFK practices

  • Keep reasons short and non-sensitive because they may be shown when someone mentions you.
  • Use AFK for temporary absence rather than permanent profile information.
  • If a status does not clear as expected, send a normal message or use /afk off.
  • Server staff can use the cleanup commands when old statuses need manual removal.

Example workflow

  1. Run /afk set and add a short reason.
  2. Other members who mention you can see that you are away.
  3. Return later and send a normal server message.
  4. Bozos clears the AFK status automatically, or you can remove it manually with /afk off.
